Imbros Gorge Hiking Tour From Chania

Imbros Gorge is the second largest gorge in Crete located in province Sfakia. The charming scenery and its wilderness in combination with the easy walk make the Imbros Hike ideal for families with children.

We will pick you up in the morning from Chania, and drive 1 hour, then start the hiking. The walking length of the gorge is 9 km and it requires approximately 3 hours for most hikers. It runs almost parallel to the Samaria gorge. Although not as well-known as the famous Samaria Gorge, it is a real natural Cretan beauty, especially interesting because of its amazing lush vegetation. Many Cretan plants and flowers are planted there. You need to wear comfortable hiking shoes or trainers to hike. Afterward, the bus will take you to Frangokastello or Chora Sfakion where you can take a swim or enjoy a meal at the local restaurant.

Chora Sfakion is the capital of the mountainous region of Sfakia. The wild landscape is combined with the quiet. Stunning seaside settlement. The sandy beach with the crystal clear blue waters is perfect for relaxation after hiking. Several coffee shops and taverns are located in the villages. In this area, you will also see the ruins of the venetian “Fortress of Sfakia” or “Castel di Sfacia or Sfachia” where you can enjoy the panoramic view of Sfakia – it is definitely worth seeing.

10:40 am Beginning of the hike
1:00 pm Hike ends at Komitades Village (depending on how fast you walk)
Departure for Sfakia (or else called Chora Sfakion)
1:30 pm Arrival at Sfakia where you can swim or enjoy a meal at the local taverns
