Snorkeling in between two continents (North American and Eurasian tectonic plates) is a once-in-a-lifetime experience!
National Geographic has described Silfra dive site as one of the top dive sites in the world, in the historically rich Thingvellir National Park (UNESCO World Heritage site), part of the famous Golden Circle route.
We provide pick-up from Reykjavík. After a short journey through the park, our experienced PADI Divemaster guide will provide a safety briefing before we go snorkeling and background information about the special geology.
We will provide all of the necessary equipment for snorkeling including a warm under-suit, a dry-suit, neoprene hoods and gloves, and of course a snorkel mask and fins. This equipment will keep you warm and buoyant throughout your time in the fissure, as well as offering protection against the glacial water.
Why is it special? Its water is 1000-year-old melted glacier water. It takes the water about 30 years to seep from the glacier through underground lava. The filtering process of the glacial water makes Silfra one of the clearest bodies of water on earth with up to 120 meters of visibility!
Once in the water, you will have the opportunity to move across two continents, as you will be switching back and forth from both the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. Swimming further, you will meet Silfra Hall, which is the widest section on the fissure and the majestic Silfra Cathedral – as the depth reaches 23m you feel like you are flying over the boulders and glacial silt. Even more, the stunning shallow oasis will be presented before your eyes at the end, “Real Blue Lagoon”.
After snorkeling, we will serve you a warm up hot chocolate and cookies, and we will send you the underwater GoPro photos to your email after the tour.
Are you ready to snorkel in the clearest water in the world and float between two continents?!

I joined this snorkeling tour, and it was awesome. The guides were warm, organized, and clearly passionate about what they do. They walked us through the gear, helped everyone feel comfortable in the dry suits, and explained exactly what to expect once we entered the water.

This is considered one of the world’s top snorkeling sites. The visibility was absolutely unreal and crystal-clear water that felt almost otherworldly. Floating gently between two tectonic plates was amazing. The colors were extraordinary. I would 100% recommend this!

Our guides were professional and we could take in every detail while still staying together as a group. Overall it was a great experience.
